about

They/Them Collective TTC003
theythemcollective.bandcamp.com

The second Splet release via They/Them Collective! On this one I got to make a track with my long-time friend and former Cymophane (cymophane.bandcamp.com) collaborator, Ian, now known as Stasis_Dub. Since we made Cymophane together we've both been on a Dub journey, and it was a pleasure to make a new track which explores how far we've both come. Stasis_Dub brings the texture and Splet takes home the riddim! There's so much detail in this track, it was a real challenge to mix, but I'm really happy with the results: a big stomping Electronic Dub Reggae monster!

Now, a surprise remake of Liminal Dub for track two... introducing: Echosplet. Echosplet is an alter-ego to Splet, where I'll be exploring more Techno soundscapes (but still with its foundations in Dub, of course). Concentrating more on the sounds you discover when you subtract the riddim from the music, letting the atmosphere seethe, pulse, and ooze out from the chasm left behind. More from Echosplet in 2023, hopefully, with some collaborations already underway in 2022.

Track three swings back into the Splet camp with a remade version of Liminal Dub where things are really stripped back to focus on the darkness which underpins the original version. Let's remove all joy and let the ugliness present itself, at times intimate, yet utterly deep, dark, and brooding.
